Thank you for participating in EMPainline.

We look forward to working with you on future educational activities.

The EMPainline ABEM MOC APP Certification pathway is a four step practice improvement project designed to satisfy the  ABEM MOC APP Practice Improvement Requirements

You will need to complete the following items in order to complete the ABEM MOC APP activity and receive credit:

                      Pre-Activity Physician Survey:

This required survey will capture your current opioid prescribing practice, as well as your attitudes and beliefs about opioid prescribing in the ED.

                      Pre-Activity Practice Improvement Chart Audits:

You are required to evaluate 10 adult patients presenting with pain, whom you've prescribed opioids, and complete 10 Chart Audits PRIOR to viewing the educational program.

u The information collected will be used to analyze and compare your prescribing practices with those of your peers as well as provide feedback on these practices.

                      CME Program:

u The accredited educational activity on ACEP's Opioid Prescribing Guidelines includes expert led discussion on opioid prescribing in the ED, managing drug-seeking behavior, storage and disposal of opioids, and an overview of Prescription Drug Monitoring Programs.

The goal of this educational activity is change in practice, not just knowledge.

Post-Activity Physician Survey and CME Assessment:

This survey will provide insights on your opioid prescribing practice improvement after the educational program.

You will receive 1 hour of AMA PRA Category 1 credit after completing the Post Survey.

                      Post-Activity Practice Improvement Chart Audits:

You are required to evaluate 10 adult patients presenting with pain, whom you've prescribed opioids, and complete 10 Chart Audits  AFTER viewing the educational program.

The information collected will be used to analyze and compare your prescribing practices with those of your peers as well as provide feedback on these practices.

A total of 20 Chart Audits for patients presenting to your ED with pain are required to satisfy the ABEM MOC APP Practice Improvement requirement (10 Pre and 10 Post).
